My love,
There are so many things I have wanted to tell you, but every time I try, the words seem too small for what I feel.
So tonight, I decided to write them down.
I don’t know exactly when I fell in love with you. Maybe it was the first time you made me laugh when I was having a terrible day. Maybe it was the way you remembered little things I had forgotten I ever told you. Or maybe it happened slowly, in hundreds of ordinary moments that became extraordinary simply because you were there.
You became my favorite person without asking for the position.
You became the person I wanted to tell everything to—the good news, the bad news, the silly things, and even the thoughts that made no sense.
But there is something I have been afraid to admit.
I am afraid of losing you.
Not because I don’t trust our love, but because you mean more to me than I ever expected anyone could.
Before you, I thought love was supposed to be perfect.
I thought two people in love were never supposed to argue, never misunderstand each other, and never have difficult days.
Then I met you.
You taught me that real love isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about staying.
It’s choosing each other after the difficult conversations.
It’s holding someone’s hand when neither person knows what to say.
It’s forgiving.
It’s growing.
It’s waking up one morning and realizing that, despite everything life has thrown at you, there is still one person beside you who makes the journey worth taking.
That’s what you became for me.
My person.
My safe place.
My favorite hello and the goodbye I never want to say.
If someday we grow old together, I hope we remember these days.
I hope we laugh about the things that once seemed so serious.
I hope we sit somewhere quiet and argue about who fell in love first.
And I hope I can look at you with the same feeling I have tonight and say:
“I would choose you all over again.”
There will be difficult days.
There will be moments when life tests us.
But if you ever wonder whether I still love you, remember this letter.
Because I didn’t write it during a perfect moment.
I wrote it because sometimes my heart becomes so full that keeping everything inside feels impossible.
I love you for who you are.
I love you for who you were when we first met.
And I love the person you are still becoming.
Most of all, I love the life I imagine when I imagine you in it.
So if I don’t always say it perfectly, please understand what my heart is trying to tell you.
I love you.
I choose you.
And if life gives me the chance, I will keep choosing you—again and again, for as long as I am given the privilege of loving you.
Forever yours,
The person who was too afraid to say it… but never stopped feeling it.
